AIMIM Mumbai President Takes Stand Against Mahayuti Government in Maharashtra

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Mumbai President, Raiees Lashkaria, recently made a bold statement by appointing observers for 18 assembly seats in Mumbai. This move signifies the party’s intention to contest elections alongside the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in an effort to unseat the ruling Mahayuti government in Maharashtra.

Lashkaria expressed the party’s commitment to working with the MVA to bring about a change in governance. He stated, “AIMIM has appointed observers for 18 assembly seats in Mumbai, with a second list of observers to follow soon. We are planning observers for at least 24 assembly seats. We have sent our proposal to the Maha Vikas Aghadi, as we aim to contest the elections with them to remove the Mahayuti government from power. AIMIM is gearing up for the Maharashtra assembly elections.”

Furthermore, Lashkaria emphasized the significant role of Muslim voters in shaping election outcomes. He highlighted the active participation of Muslim voters in defending the Constitution during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and noted that their votes would also be crucial in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

In a bid to support those facing injustice, AIMIM announced the establishment of a support group comprising doctors, advocates, and retired police officers. Lashkaria shared, “Today at our press conference, we introduced a new initiative. We have organised a group comprising doctors, advocates, and retired police officers to assist those suffering from injustice. This team will provide immediate relief to ensure that those in need don’t feel abandoned.”

The AIMIM Mumbai President assured that the party stands with the people and is dedicated to expanding its efforts to provide assistance to those in need. He mentioned plans to release a helpline number for the initiative in the near future.

Looking ahead to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, which include 288 seats, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has named former Aurangabad Lok Sabha lawmaker Imtiaz Jaleel, Lashkaria, and three others as contenders for the polls. Jaleel had previously expressed the party’s goal of preventing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti coalition from retaining power in the upcoming elections.

As the political landscape in Maharashtra continues to evolve, the collaboration between AIMIM and the MVA signifies a potential shift in power dynamics. The state awaits the official announcement of election dates by the Election Commission of India, setting the stage for a competitive electoral battle.

In conclusion, AIMIM’s decision to contest elections alongside the MVA reflects a strategic move to challenge the ruling Mahayuti government in Maharashtra. With a focus on empowering Muslim voters and providing support to those in need, the party aims to bring about positive change in the state’s governance. As the political landscape heats up in anticipation of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, all eyes will be on the evolving dynamics between the various political forces vying for power.
