Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently made headlines by inaugurating and conducting ground-breaking ceremonies for over 25 development projects valued at ₹410 crore. The projects, led by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), were launched at the CIDCO exhibition center in Vashi.
During the event, Shinde remotely inaugurated each project and highlighted the potential impact on the region’s development. He emphasized how the Navi Mumbai airport and the NMMC and CIDCO projects would contribute to making Maharashtra a development powerhouse. Shinde also expressed optimism about Mumbai becoming the fintech capital and playing a significant role in achieving the Prime Minister’s goal of a 1 trillion economy.
In addition to the project inaugurations, the ceremony included the distribution of house keys to individuals affected by the Irshalwadi landslide. Appointment letters were also presented to individuals contracted by CIDCO from among the landslide victims. The NMMC projects unveiled at the event included new markets, parking lots, schools, and upgrades to medical facilities. Notably, the NMMC became the first organization to establish a textile recycling unit, a commendable achievement mentioned by municipal commissioner Kailas Shinde.
CIDCO introduced eight development projects, including the construction of a nine-storey Maharashtra Bhavan in Vashi and the redevelopment of buildings under the Thane urban renewal scheme. Infrastructure development work worth ₹5,000 crore under the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) town planning schemes was also initiated. The projects encompassed the construction of 67,000 houses as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with keys distributed for approximately 26,000 completed units. Additionally, plans were unveiled to expand the International Kharghar Valley Golf Course from 9 to 18 holes and construct a football ground in Kharghar with a seating capacity of 4,500.
The event served as a platform to showcase the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the quality of life for residents in the region. The projects launched are expected to create job opportunities, enhance connectivity, and contribute to the overall growth of Maharashtra. As the state moves towards becoming a key player in the nation’s economy, initiatives like these play a crucial role in fostering sustainable development and progress.
