A 35-year-old man, Jared Paul D’Silva, had a terrifying experience while riding his scooter on the Western Express Highway in Bandra West. A wire hanging from a hoarding got entangled around his neck, causing a deep cut. D’Silva, who hails from Andheri and works as a freelancer for a logistics firm, was fortunate to survive after undergoing surgery at Lilavati Hospital.

The incident took place around 7 pm on October 28 as D’Silva was on his way home from Bandra. The loose wire caught his neck under the U-bridge, resulting in a serious injury. Despite bleeding profusely, D’Silva struggled to get help from passing vehicles until he managed to reach the hospital with the assistance of a traffic constable.

D’Silva emphasized the need for authorities to address the safety hazard posed by dangling wires along the Western Express Highway. He expressed gratitude towards the medical team at Lilavati Hospital for saving his life and highlighted the importance of holding the responsible parties accountable for their negligence.

Inspector Pradeep Kelkar from the Bandra police station confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the unknown individual behind the incident, and an investigation is ongoing. The police have also issued a notice to the hoarding company in connection with the case.

D’Silva shared his ordeal, mentioning the challenges he faces during his recovery period, including difficulty in speaking and eating due to the injury. He stressed the severity of the situation, emphasizing that such incidents could have fatal consequences if not addressed promptly.
