Mangal Prabhat Lodha, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District, has taken action to address the growing issue of traffic congestion at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). In a letter addressed to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Commissioner, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Lodha highlighted the urgent need for immediate measures to alleviate the congestion in the area.

Acknowledging the impact of ongoing Metro work on the road width and the limited usage of existing cycle tracks and gardens by cyclists, Lodha proposed several solutions to tackle the issue effectively. One of the key suggestions includes reintegrating bicycle lanes back into the road and developing a separate cycle track on an adjacent plot in BKC to provide a safe route for cyclists.

Additionally, Lodha recommended optimizing the barriers used for Metro work to occupy minimal space and initiating special bus services from Bandra Station to BKC. These measures aim to reduce the reliance on taxis and rickshaws, as well as address concerns regarding overcharging and unlawful fares.

Furthermore, Lodha emphasized the need for infrastructural changes to address the imbalance between the space allocated for footpaths and gardens compared to the road width at Bharat Diamond Bourse. He called for expedited road widening efforts, ensuring the left lane is always open, implementing smart signaling and traffic systems, and establishing a separate traffic division under the BKC Police Station.

By advocating for these measures, Lodha aims to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and create a more sustainable transportation system in BKC. His proactive approach to addressing the challenges of traffic congestion demonstrates a commitment to finding practical solutions for the benefit of residents and commuters in the area.

In light of Lodha’s efforts to engage with stakeholders and propose actionable steps to address the traffic congestion issue in BKC, it is essential for authorities and relevant agencies to collaborate and implement these recommendations effectively. By prioritizing sustainable transportation solutions and infrastructure development, the vision of a more accessible and efficient BKC can be realized, benefiting the community as a whole.
