Mumbai’s first underground Metro corridor, the aqua line’s phase-1, stretching from Bandra-Kurla Complex to Aarey, is now open for public use. The Metro operation on this stretch commenced at 11 am, with many people eagerly waiting to experience the ride on the first day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 12.69 km long phase-1 of the BKC to Aarey stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 3 on Saturday. During his ride from BKC to Santacruz and back, he interacted with students, beneficiaries of the Maharashtra government’s Ladki Bahin scheme, and laborers who were involved in constructing the underground line.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has announced that regular operations on the aqua line will begin from Tuesday. The Metro services will run from 6.30 am to 10.30 pm between Monday and Saturday, and from 8.30 am to 10.30 pm on Sundays. The fare for a ride on the Metro line ranges from ₹10 to ₹50, according to the MMRC.

Passengers have multiple options to book tickets, including using the NCMC, Mumbai Metro 3 mobile app, and ticket vending machines. The corridor between BKC and Aarey road features 10 Metro stations, with only Aarey JVLR station being at a grade level while the rest are underground.

The aqua line is the fourth Metro corridor in Mumbai, joining the already operational Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova Metro Line-1, Andheri West-Dahisar Line-2A, and Andheri East-Dahisar Line-7. This new addition will provide a convenient mode of transportation for residents and commuters in the bustling city of Mumbai.

With the opening of the BKC to Aarey stretch, residents and visitors can now travel seamlessly between these key destinations in Mumbai. The new Metro line is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide a faster and more efficient mode of transportation for daily commuters.

The Mumbai Metro continues to expand its network, connecting different parts of the city and making travel more convenient for its residents. The addition of the aqua line marks a significant milestone in Mumbai’s public transportation system and is set to benefit thousands of passengers daily.
