Central Railway in Mumbai is gearing up for a Mega Block this Sunday to perform essential maintenance work on its suburban sections. This block will impact services on both fast and slow lines, as well as on the Harbour lines. The schedule for the Mega Block is detailed below, so commuters can plan their travel accordingly.

Central Railway Mega Block Schedule

The Mega Block will affect the Matunga-Mulund UP and Down Fast Lines from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm. Services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai between 10.58 am and 3.10 pm will be diverted to the Down Slow line at Matunga. These trains will make scheduled stops between Matunga and Mulund stations, arriving at their final destination approximately 15 minutes behind schedule. For passengers traveling beyond Thane, fast trains will be re-diverted to the Down Fast line at Mulund station.

Services leaving Thane between 11.25 am and 3.27 pm will be diverted to the Up Slow line at Mulund, stopping at their respective stations between Mulund and Matunga. These trains will then be re-diverted to the Up Fast line at Matunga station, resulting in a delay of around 15 minutes.

Harbour Line Updates

The Mega Block will also impact the UP and Down Harbour Lines (CSMT to Chunabhatti/Bandra) from 11.10 am to 4.40 pm. Trains to Vashi/Belapur/Panvel departing CSMT between 11.16 am and 4.47 pm, as well as those heading to Bandra/Goregaon from CSMT between 10.48 am and 4.43 pm, will be cancelled.

Services from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT departing Panvel from 9.53 am to 3.20 pm, and services from Goregaon/Bandra to CSMT departing Bandra from 10.45 am to 5.13 pm, will also remain cancelled. To accommodate passengers during the block period, special services will be available between Panvel and Kurla. Harbour line travelers are advised to utilize Main Line and Western Line stations for travel between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.

In addition to Central Railway’s Mega Block, Western Railway is set to undertake a jumbo block between Grant Road and Mumbai Central stations on the night of February 8 and 9. This 13-hour maintenance work, starting at 10pm on Friday and ending at 11am on Saturday, will result in disruptions to fast line services, leading to train cancellations and schedule adjustments. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly.

During this block, all UP and DOWN Fast line trains will be redirected to the Slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central stations. Suburban trains are expected to be cancelled, and trains originating from Churchgate will be either short terminated or reversed from Bandra and Dadar stations, impacting travel plans for many commuters. The overnight maintenance work aims to minimize disruption to daily operations and ensure the safety and efficiency of train services.

As Mumbai’s local train networks undergo essential maintenance and upgrade work, commuters are encouraged to stay informed about schedule changes and plan their journeys carefully. The cooperation and understanding of passengers are vital as these infrastructure improvements are crucial for the smooth functioning of the city’s lifeline. Stay tuned for further updates and announcements from Central and Western Railways to navigate through these temporary disruptions seamlessly.
