The Elphinstone Bridge in Mumbai, which connects Parel and Prabhadevi, is gonna be shut for all the cars and stuff on Friday at 9 pm, according to the Mumbai Traffic Police. The big shots at the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) have even arranged for two ambulances to help out the folks in Parel and Prabhadevi if they need to go to the hospital in a hurry. Not really sure why this matters, but they’re replacing the bridge with a two-deck structure. The lower deck will still connect east and west, while the upper one will link it to the Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. Sounds fancy, right?

The Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumbhare spilled the beans to mid-day.com about the closure of the bridge. They asked for suggestions from the citizens back in April, and apparently, they actually listened to some of them when making the final traffic management plan. Oh, and they’ve set up wheelchairs for the patients along with the ambulances. How thoughtful!

Starting from Friday at 9 pm, here’s the deal for the traffic:
– If you’re heading from East to West, go to Dadar West and Dadar Market from Dadar East via Tilak Bridge.
– For those going from Parel East to Prabhadevi and Lower Parel, hit up the Currey Road Bridge between 7 am and 3 pm.
– And if you’re going from Parel and Byculla East to Prabhadevi, Worli, Coastal Road, or Sea Link, take the Chinchpokli Bridge.

If you’re coming from the West to the East side:
– Travel from Dadar West to Dadar East using the Tilak Bridge.
– Head from Prabhadevi and Lower Parel to Parel, TATA Hospital, and KEM Hospital using the Currey Road Bridge between 3 pm and 11 pm.
– And if you’re going from Coastal Road, Sea Link, Prabhadevi, or Worli to Parel, Byculla East, the Chinchpokli Bridge is your best bet.

All in all, it looks like a bit of a hassle, but hopefully, it’ll all work out in the end. Just keep those alternative routes handy and try not to get too lost in the chaos.
