Railway tracks in Maharashtra have received a much-needed clean-up by the Central Railway. The effort focused on neglected areas around Neral and Igatpuri stations, as well as the diesel loco shed at Kalyan. This initiative reflects a broader push towards cleanliness and awareness among staff and passengers alike.

The special drive, which includes ‘Rail Chaupal’ sessions to engage the public, has led to visible progress. Each section of the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer’s office has been dedicated to regular cleaning activities. Garbage and thick vegetation left behind by the monsoon were cleared from tracks and surrounding areas, improving safety and visibility.

At Neral and Igatpuri stations, railway tracks were cleared of litter, while the diesel loco shed at Kalyan saw a thorough cleaning to ensure the safety of workers. In other areas like Burhanpur railway station and Ajni Railway Colony in Nagpur division, similar clean-up activities took place. Staff were educated on the importance of wearing protective gear for safety and hygiene.

Chandrapur Railway Colony underwent a cleaning process to remove garbage and thick bushes, enhancing the overall environment. Tadiwala Railway Colony in Pune was also cleaned intensively, with leaves and branches being cleared. In Solapur, the dormitory premises were tidied up and residents were counseled on cleanliness practices. Additionally, a tree plantation activity was organized at Modi Railway Colony in Solapur to promote environmental sustainability.

These efforts by the Central Railway in Maharashtra demonstrate a commitment to improving cleanliness and hygiene in neglected railway areas. By engaging both staff and the public, the initiative aims to create a cleaner and safer environment for everyone. This ongoing campaign serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces for the well-being of all.
