The Mumbai weather forecast for May 25, 2025, at 11:16 AM IST predicts ongoing rain moving east-northeastwards across south Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and North Interior Karnataka. Heavy rain hit parts of Mumbai on Sunday morning, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipating continued rainfall in the state over the next few days. The depression over Madhya Maharashtra has shifted east-northeastwards at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour in the last six hours, according to the IMD.

Movement of the Depression:
The weather agency reported, “The Depression over Madhya Maharashtra moved nearly east-northeastwards with a speed of 20 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centered at 23:30 hrs IST of yesterday, the 24th May 2025, over Madhya Maharashtra.” The IMD further forecasts the depression’s east-northeastward movement across Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and the Northern interior Karnataka. The depression is expected to continue its east-northeastward path across south Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and North Interior Karnataka, gradually weakening into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. On May 23, Mumbai experienced light showers, with IMD predicting generally cloudy skies and heavy rainfall for the city.

Traffic Situation in Thane District:
Following the heavy rainfall, a significant traffic jam was reported on the Bhiwandi-Wada road in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Thursday. The downpour resulted in the formation of large potholes, significantly slowing down traffic flow. The situation was exacerbated by ongoing construction work, causing commuters to be stranded for 7 to 8 kilometers for over four hours. As per the IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to persist in various parts of the west coast, including Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala, over the next few days. (With ANI Inputs)
