Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Independence Day 2024 that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 5 lakh crore have been signed in the last two years under his government. These agreements are expected to create 2.5 lakh jobs in the state, contributing significantly to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ or a developed India.

In his address after hoisting the national flag in Mumbai, Shinde highlighted the importance of aligning state policies to support economic growth and development. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Maharashtra in terms of its development ranking compared to other states but emphasized that the state government has effectively addressed these issues.

One of the key achievements highlighted by Shinde was the significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Maharashtra, positioning the state as a leader in attracting foreign investments. The MoUs signed in various sectors such as agriculture, education, power generation, health, and infrastructure are expected to drive job creation and economic growth in the coming years.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the Maharashtra Logistics Policy, which aims to generate a revenue of Rs 30,000 crore and boost the state’s logistics sector. Additionally, initiatives such as the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’, which provides financial assistance to eligible women, and infrastructure projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore are expected to bring about significant changes in the lives of the people of Maharashtra.

Shinde highlighted the progress made in healthcare through the CM’s Health Cell, which has provided assistance to 70,000 people amounting to Rs 300 crore in the last two years. He also mentioned the upcoming completion of the Samruddhi Expressway connecting Nagpur to Mumbai, which is expected to improve connectivity and boost economic development in the region.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, hoisted the tricolour at the Council Hall in Pune, where they were joined by local MPs, MLAs, people’s representatives, senior administrative and police officers, as well as citizens and children.

The signing of MoUs worth Rs 5 lakh crore and the creation of 2.5 lakh jobs in Maharashtra reflect the state’s commitment to driving economic growth and development. With strategic investments in key sectors and initiatives to support women, healthcare, and infrastructure, Maharashtra is poised to play a significant role in achieving the vision of a developed India.
