A 55-year-old man named Kamlya Rago Nirguda was arrested by the Panvel Taluka police for allegedly killing his live-in partner, Shanivari Goma Nirguda, in Panvel. This incident occurred after a village police constable found the victim unconscious in a pool of blood. The accused, who had previously been convicted of murder in 2008 for killing his wife, was present at the scene and taken into custody under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
The deceased, Shanivari Goma Nirguda, was a 45-year-old widow whose husband had passed away around 10 years ago. It is believed that the accused was related to her late husband, and the couple had been living together for seven years. The investigating officer mentioned that after serving time for his previous crime, the accused was released and began living with the deceased.
According to the police, Shanivari suffered fatal injuries from a sharp object, and the accused was reportedly intoxicated during the incident. The officer stated that the accused had a history of physically assaulting his partner and that he used a wooden rod and other objects to cause fatal injuries to her head.
The victim was immediately taken to the district hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The police are currently looking into whether Nirguda had completed his full prison sentence or was out on bail at the time of the incident.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of addressing alcohol abuse. It also highlights the need for proper rehabilitation and monitoring of individuals with a history of violent behavior. May justice be served for the victim, Shanivari Goma Nirguda, and may her soul rest in peace.
