The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is currently working on a new project in Goregaon, which will consist of 332 luxury units. This project will mark the first time MHADA includes amenities such as a gym and a swimming pool in one of its properties. The building, standing tall at 39 stories, will offer 227 two-bedroom homes for the middle-class group and 105 three-bedroom homes for the high-income group.
Despite the exciting additions of a gym and a swimming pool, MHADA is facing some challenges when it comes to providing parking space for all residents. Even with a multi-level parking lot in place, there simply isn’t enough space to accommodate every resident’s vehicle. An MHADA official mentioned that while parking spaces will be initially provided, the final allocation will be decided by the housing society. It is rumored that owners of the three-bedroom homes are more likely to secure a parking spot compared to only half of the two-bedroom home owners. Cooperative societies often resort to lotteries to allocate parking spaces on a rotational basis.
In addition to the Goregaon project, MHADA is also working on building new homes in Powai, Dindoshi, Vikhroli, and Antop Hill in Wadala. These projects are part of a larger initiative that aims to offer over 2,000 homes through an upcoming MHADA lottery. The lottery is expected to take place next month, in September, and will primarily cater to the lower-income group, middle-income group, and economically weaker section. There will be a limited number of homes available for the high-income group.
Interested homebuyers can stay updated on the MHADA lottery 2024 website, where the application process is conducted entirely online. MHADA has even developed a mobile app for those looking to apply for a home. The price of an economically weaker section home starts at approximately INR 30 lakh, while a three-bedroom home can cost over INR 1 crore.
