The railways in Mumbai are gearing up for some major construction work this weekend. While there will be no mega block, special traffic and power blocks are scheduled for October 12 and 13. These blocks are necessary for the launch of open web girders for the reconstruction of the Carnac rail overbridge between CSMT and Masjid stations.
During these blocks, there will be disruptions to train services. Suburban trains between Byculla-CSMT on the Main Line and Wadala Road-CSMT on the Harbour Line will be affected. Passengers should take note of the changes in train schedules to avoid any inconveniences.
On the Main Line, the last trains departing from CSMT will be at 11:42 pm for Titwala, 10:14 pm for Kalyan, and 10:33 pm for Kasara. The first trains departing from CSMT will be at 6:14 am for Titwala, 6:24 am for Badlapur, 5:34 am for Kasara, and 4:53 am for Karjat. Similar changes will also be implemented on the Harbour Line.
Several Mail/Express trains will be short terminated at Dadar and Panvel stations to accommodate the construction work. Passengers traveling on these trains should plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any disruptions.
On the second day of the block, the construction work will continue from 12:30 am to 3:30 am. The traffic block section will be between Byculla-CSMT on the Main Line and Vadala Road-CSMT on the Harbour Line. Suburban services will once again be affected, with trains being short terminated or originated at different stations.
Passengers are advised to stay informed about the changes in train schedules and plan their journeys accordingly. The construction work is essential for the improvement of railway infrastructure in Mumbai, and these temporary disruptions will lead to long-term benefits for commuters.
