Tejasvee Ghosalkar, who was previously a BMC corporator, has decided to part ways with the Shiv Sena (UBT) due to personal reasons. It seems that Ghosalkar was not happy with how the party was functioning at a local level. Udesh Patekar, the Sena (UBT) vibhag pramukh, mentioned that Ghosalkar did not give a specific reason for her resignation.
Ghosalkar, who leads the women’s wing of Sena (UBT) in the Dahisar assembly constituency in north Mumbai, is the daughter-in-law of former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar. Her husband, Abhishek Ghosalkar, tragically lost his life in early 2024 when he was shot during a Facebook Live by Morris Noronha, a local resident. Abhishek had also served as a BMC corporator.
The Ghosalkar family has a long-standing connection with the Thackerays, as evidenced by the presence of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aaditya, and his wife Rashmi at Abhishek’s funeral. This event underscored the close bond between the two families.
In another political development, seven former corporators from the NCP (SP) in Thane have decided to join the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. This move is seen as a significant blow to the NCP (SP), especially in the Kalwa-Mumbra region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of senior leader Jitendra Awhad.
The induction of these former NCP (SP) corporators into the Shiv Sena took place in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske, and other senior leaders. The shift in allegiance is expected to bolster Shiv Sena’s position in the Thane Municipal Corporation, where the party currently holds 78 corporator seats.
A statement from the Shiv Sena emphasized the party’s year-round commitment to grassroots work and its appeal to leaders and workers from other parties to join their movement under Eknath Shinde’s leadership. The party’s consistent efforts have attracted individuals from various political backgrounds to align with their vision for the future.
So, it seems like Tejasvee Ghosalkar and the former NCP (SP) corporators in Thane are making significant moves in the political landscape of Mumbai. The dynamics are changing, and alliances are shifting as different parties strive to position themselves for the upcoming civic polls. It will be interesting to see how these developments unfold and what impact they will have on the political scenario in the region.
