Ajit Pawar has started his statewide tour for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The tour, called ‘Jan Samman Yatra’, began in Dindori, Nashik and will cover 39 assembly constituencies over the course of a month. The aim of the tour is to kick off the party’s election campaign and engage with a variety of societal groups. Pawar will be highlighting schemes outlined in the state budget, with a focus on the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’.
The NCP leader’s goal is not only to raise awareness about these schemes but also to dispel any confusion that may have been spread by opposition parties. Pawar took to social media to declare the beginning of the ‘Jan Samman Yatra’, emphasizing the importance of public service, respect, and empowerment. Dressed in an onion-pink half-jacket over a white kurta-pyjama, he started the tour with a public meeting, particularly focusing on women attendees.
During the tour, Pawar plans to interact with grape growers, visit the Kalaram Temple, have discussions with women in Devlali, and hold a session with health workers. The overarching goal of the tour is to rebrand Ajit Pawar as a leader of the people, moving beyond his image as a skilled administrator. The campaign slogan, “Dadacha Wada, Laabh Aani Bal” (Benefit and power are the promises of Ajit Pawar), encapsulates this vision.
A custom-designed pink bus, a color often associated with women, will transport Pawar and other senior party members throughout the tour. The journey will take them through North Maharashtra, Western Maharashtra, Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Vidarbha, before concluding in Marathwada. The strategic importance of this tour lies in its potential to reshape public perception and garner support leading up to the state assembly elections.
By directly engaging with constituents and showcasing government initiatives, Pawar hopes to solidify his party’s position in the competitive political landscape of Maharashtra. The ‘Jan Samman Yatra’ is just the beginning of the NCP’s election campaign, with more initiatives and engagements planned in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates on how this tour unfolds and impacts the political landscape in Maharashtra.
