A tragic incident unfolded in Uran on Wednesday evening, as a 28-year-old woman, Hewanti Chauhan, lost her life in a road accident. She was crossing the road with her 10-year-old son when a motorcycle struck her, resulting in fatal injuries. The incident took place near the Telipada arch on the Charphata–Telipada road around 5:30 pm. Chauhan, a resident of Telipada, Uran, was on her way back from the market when the speeding motorcycle hit her, causing severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was declared dead upon arrival.

Detained for negligence in this tragic event is the motorcycle rider, Subhash Shankar Chakrabarti, aged 25. The Uran police have taken action by booking him under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including death by negligence, endangering life, rash and negligent driving, and dangerous driving. Senior police inspector Jitendra Misal attributed the accident to reckless and negligent driving on the part of the rider. The community is left mourning the loss of a young life due to a moment of carelessness on the road.
