Six individuals, including three police constables, were recently arrested by Raigad police for their involvement in a daring jewellery store robbery that resulted in the theft of a staggering ₹1.5 crore. This audacious heist involved luring two jewellers with a fake gold offer, highlighting the brazen nature of the crime. While four of the culprits have been brought to justice, two suspects, including another police constable, are currently on the run.
Mastermind Samadhan Pinjari’s Devious Plan
The plot thickens as investigators uncover the intricate details behind the robbery orchestrated by Samadhan Pinjari, a 20-year-old employee of a private firm in Alibag. Pinjari, the alleged mastermind, initiated contact with jeweller Namdev Hulge from Nagpur, enticing him with a tempting proposition of acquiring 7 kg of gold for a mere ₹5 crore. This deceptive offer sparked a chain of events that eventually led to the heist that took place in early February.
The unsuspecting jewellers, Hulge and his associate Omkar Waksha, embarked on a fateful journey to Alibag with a substantial sum of ₹1.5 crore in cash, prepared to seal the deal. Little did they know that they were walking into a meticulously planned trap set by Pinjari and his cohorts. The jewellers found themselves at the mercy of the criminals, who swiftly relieved them of the cash and made a swift getaway in a vehicle driven by one of the accused, Deepak Gaikwad.
Police Constables Turned Perpetrators
What adds a sinister twist to this tale of deception is the involvement of two police constables, Sameer Mahtre and Vicky Sable, in the nefarious act. These individuals, entrusted with upholding the law, shamelessly abused their authority to execute the robbery with precision. Their presence at the scene of the crime under the guise of conducting a routine check instilled a false sense of security in the jewellers, only to be shattered when the constables absconded with the cash, leaving behind a trail of betrayal.
As the duped jewellers grappled with the aftermath of the robbery, they were subjected to further intimidation by constable Suryavanshi, who attempted to coerce them into silence by falsely accusing them of theft. However, the resilient victims refused to succumb to fear and bravely reported the incident to Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge, sparking a swift investigation that culminated in the apprehension of the perpetrators.
In the wake of these shocking events, the Raigad police have taken decisive action by placing the arrested individuals in custody until February 14, underscoring their commitment to upholding justice and ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable. The recovery of the entire sum looted from the jewellers serves as a beacon of hope for the victims and a testament to the diligence of law enforcement in swiftly resolving this case.
As the details of this audacious jewellery store robbery continue to unfold, it serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of crime and the unwavering resolve of those committed to upholding the law. In a world where trust can be easily betrayed, it is imperative to remain vigilant and stand united against those who seek to exploit our vulnerabilities for personal gain. Let this incident serve as a cautionary tale and a testament to the resilience of those who refuse to be silenced in the face of adversity.
