The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a cloudy sky and light rain with thunderstorms for Delhi today. It is expected that there will be no heavy rainfall in the Delhi NCR area on August 8 and 9, 2024.
However, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for the national capital region, including Noida, from August 10 to 12. The temperatures are expected to range between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius during this time. Similar temperatures are forecasted for the next five days as well.
Orange alerts have been issued for several states including Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. Heavy downpours are expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on August 10 and August 8, respectively. The rainfall in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan could continue until August 13.
States like Uttar Pradesh will also see rainfall until August 11, while Punjab can expect it on August 10. Haryana might experience heavy rainfall on August 8 and 10.
The IMD has also released a press statement on August 7 regarding West and Central India, predicting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over regions like Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, and other states until August 14. Widespread rainfall is expected in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra, and Kutch.
In South Peninsular India, heavy downpours are forecasted for Karnataka on August 8. Telangana is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall in the next three days, with a yellow alert issued for North Telangana and possible rainfall in East Telangana later today.
The weather forecast for East and Northeast India predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning throughout the week. Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Assam and Meghalaya on August 8 and 9, the Sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal and Sikkim on August 8, and Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar on August 9.
