Mumbai Weather Update: Partly Cloudy Sky with Light Rain Forecast for City and Suburbs

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a partly cloudy sky with a possibility of light rain in both the city and suburbs of Mumbai on Sunday. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius.

High Tide Alert:
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a high tide alert for Mumbai, with a tide of about 4.34 meters expected to hit the city at 11:08 am today. Another high tide of approximately 3.77 meters is forecasted for 11:05 pm. Additionally, a low tide of about 4.24 meters is expected at 5:11 am today.

Water Reservoir Levels:
As per the latest update from the BMC, the water levels in Mumbai’s seven reservoirs, which supply drinking water to the city, currently stand at 93.04 percent. The collective water stock in Mumbai lakes is reported to be at 13,46,606 million litres. The city draws water from reservoirs including Tulsi, Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna.

Water Availability in Reservoirs:
– Tansa: Water level at 97.31 percent
– Modak Sagar: Water stock at 96.26 percent
– Middle Vaitarna: Water level at 97.47 percent
– Upper Vaitarna: Water availability at 89.32 percent
– Bhatsa: Water level at 91.24 percent
– Vihar: 100 percent of useful water level
– Tulsi: Water availability at 99.05 percent

Overflowing Lakes:
In response to heavy rains, Middle Vaitarna Lake started overflowing on July 4, followed by Vihar and Modak Sagar on July 25. Tansa Lake also began to overflow on July 24, increasing the water stored in all seven reservoirs significantly. Tansa Lake alone supplies approximately 400 million gallons of water to Mumbai.

Tulsi Lake, one of the key sources of water for BMC, also started overflowing on July 20, providing a much-needed boost to the city’s water supply. The BMC has been closely monitoring the water levels in all reservoirs to ensure a steady water supply to the residents of Mumbai.

Traffic Update:
There are no major traffic disruptions reported by the Mumbai traffic police at the moment, and traffic movement in the city is smooth. Commuters are advised to stay updated on the latest weather and traffic updates to plan their travel accordingly.

In conclusion, Mumbai residents can expect a partly cloudy sky with light rain showers in the city and suburbs. With the high tide alert issued by the BMC and the overflowing of key reservoirs, the city is well-prepared to tackle any challenges posed by the weather conditions. Stay safe and stay informed!
