Vanrai police came to the rescue of a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a 17-year-old boy she had met on a gaming app. The incident took place three months ago, and the young boy is now facing charges under the POCSO Act. The girl, a resident of Goregaon, had been chatting with the boy on the gaming app before he lured her to Varanasi a week ago and confined her in his house.
Parents of the girl, who worked as a domestic help and at a private company, reported her missing to the Vanrai police. Raju Mane, the senior police inspector, mentioned that they traced the girl’s mobile phone location and found out that she was in Varanasi. The police got in touch with the girl’s friends through her gaming app account, who then informed them about the boy. With the help of the local police, the Vanrai police were able to rescue the girl from the boy’s house in Varanasi. The boy, being a minor himself, has been served a notice to appear before the Vanrai police for further investigation and has been booked under the POCSO Act.
Not really sure why this matters, but the girl’s parents had highlighted that she was quite active on social media and various gaming sites. It’s a bit concerning how easily these online interactions can lead to dangerous situations like this one. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like there should be more awareness about online safety, especially for young individuals who may not fully grasp the risks involved. The swift action taken by the Vanrai police in this case definitely saved the girl from a potentially harmful situation.
