The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its third list of 25 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This comes after the party had already announced 121 candidates in two previous lists.
One of the notable candidates in this list is Sumeet Wankhede, who serves as the personal assistant to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He will be contesting from the Arvee constituency. Another interesting inclusion is Parag Shah, who was the richest assembly candidate in the state back in 2019. He will be running from Ghatkopar East, while sitting legislator Ram Satpute will be contesting from Malshiras.
In Versova, the party has decided to retain sitting MLA Bharti Lavhekar. Additionally, Archana Chakurkar, the daughter-in-law of former Union Minister Shivraj Chakurkar, will be contesting against Congress leader Amit Deshmukh in Latur city. The Katol constituency in Nagpur will witness a face-off between Charansingh Thakur and Salil Deshmukh, the son of NCP-SP leader and former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Kishor Jorgewar, who recently joined the BJP after serving as an independent MLA, has been given the party ticket from Chandrapur. Jitesh Antapurkar, a close confidant of former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, will be contesting from Deglur in Nanded after his recent switch to the BJP.
The announcement of these candidates was delayed due to internal party deliberations. For example, former minister Prakash Mehta had sought the Ghatkopar East constituency, and there were competing claims from former MP Gopal Shetty and sitting MLA Sunil Rane for the Borivali seat.
The BJP is gearing up for the Maharashtra assembly elections and these candidate selections are a crucial part of their strategy. It will be interesting to see how these candidates perform in their respective constituencies and how the overall election plays out. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage on this important political event.
