Exciting news, folks! The Maharashtra government has decided to launch a brand new crop insurance scheme for farmers. According to reports, farmers will now need to pay a premium ranging from 1.5 to 2 per cent of the insured amount. That’s quite a jump from the previous scheme where they only had to cough up Rs 1. Yep, you heard that right!

Under the new scheme, farmers will have to pay 2 per cent of the insured sum for Kharif crops, 1.5 per cent for Rabi, and 5 per cent for cash crops. The change comes after the government faced complaints about the previous ‘one rupee crop insurance scheme’. Apparently, some folks were claiming insurance without even planting a crop. Yikes!

But that’s not all the Maharashtra government has been up to. They’ve also decided to increase the wages for individuals living in beggars’ homes. These folks will now be getting Rs 40 per day, up from a measly Rs 5 per month. It’s the first time the wages have been increased since 1964. Talk about a long-overdue raise!

The decision to boost wages is aimed at encouraging self-reliance among the individuals living in beggars’ homes. They will now have more money in their pockets to sustain themselves. The state already has the Maharashtra Prevention of Begging Act 1964 in place to support these individuals. Under this law, 14 dedicated homes have been set up for the rehabilitation of beggars, housing over 4,000 inmates.

In these beggars’ homes, individuals are trained in various skills related to agriculture and small-scale industries. The goal is to help them earn a livelihood and become self-sufficient. Previously, these individuals were only getting Rs 5 per month. Now, with the new wage increase, they’ll be receiving Rs 40 daily. That’s quite the bump in income!

The Maharashtra government seems to be on a roll with these new initiatives. From revamping the crop insurance scheme to enhancing wages for individuals in beggars’ homes, they are certainly making moves to support their citizens. It’s refreshing to see these efforts being made to uplift those in need.

So, there you have it, folks. The Maharashtra government is stepping up its game with these new schemes. Let’s hope these initiatives bring about positive change and help improve the lives of farmers and individuals living in beggars’ homes. Until next time, stay tuned for more updates on these developments!
