Vishaal Rasquinha Accuses Nepal Airlines Security of Assault in Mumbai
In a shocking turn of events, Vishaal Aloysius Rasquinha, a well-known Mumbai-based emcee, voice-over artist, and anchor, has come forward with allegations of assault against Nepal Airlines security staff at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. The incident occurred on November 24, when Vishaal, holding a confirmed return ticket for a flight to Mumbai, was allegedly subjected to physical assault and detention by security personnel.
Details of the Alleged Assault
Vishaal arrived at the airport at 10:30 am, expecting a smooth departure for his scheduled flight at 12:20 pm. However, as the hours passed with no updates on the delayed flight, Vishaal’s frustration grew. Despite repeated inquiries, he claims to have received unprofessional responses from airline staff. By 3 pm, passengers were informed that the flight would be postponed until 9 pm, further exacerbating Vishaal’s distress.
The situation took a drastic turn when Vishaal reported being physically assaulted and detained by security personnel. Allegedly confined in unsanitary conditions, Vishaal sustained visible injuries and experienced mental trauma. A legal notice has been issued against Nepal Airlines, demanding accountability for the misconduct.
Vishaal’s Demand for Justice
Vishaal and his legal team have demanded compensation of Rs 15 lakh for damages incurred, including reimbursement for additional travel and accommodation expenses, as well as compensation for mental agony and physical injury. Failure to respond adequately to the legal notice may have consequences for non-compliance.
In a statement, Vishaal shared, “I was in Nepal to attend a wedding and have been there since November 21. I was to leave for Phuket, Thailand in the early morning on November 25, but all my plans got changed due to Nepal Airlines’ delayed flight from KTM. I had no time to pick my baggage from home and instead landed buying an additional pair of clothes, which added on to my expenses. I am yet to come out of the shock. I do get nightmares, which scare me. Five security personnel had nailed me down, snatched my mobile phone and got me to delete all the contents, before they dumped me into a tiny dingy restroom, slapped and assaulted me, for merely articulating my situation.”
Expert Opinion and Response from Nepal Airlines
Advocate Sarosh Damania, who issued the legal notice on behalf of Vishaal, emphasized the need for accountability and sensitivity within the aviation industry to safeguard the dignity of every traveller. Meanwhile, Nepal Airlines’ official spokesperson, Ramesh Poudel, and the airline management have not responded to inquiries regarding the incident, highlighting the urgency of addressing such violations.
As Vishaal and his family await justice and resolution, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding passenger rights and ensuring the safety and well-being of all travellers in the aviation sector.
