Water Supply Disruption in Mumbai on September 19 for Valve Replacement – Update and Impact

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that parts of Mumbai will experience a water cut on September 19, 2024, due to the replacement of four valves on the 750 mm diameter Parle-Versova outlet at Veravali Reservoir-2 in the East Zone. The disruption is scheduled to take place from 8 pm on Thursday, September 19, to 2 pm on Friday, September 20.

Specifically, the K East and K West divisions will be affected by the water cut. The BMC has identified areas in these divisions that will experience interruptions in water supply during the valve replacement process. Residents in locations such as Mahakali Marg, Poonam Nagar, Goni Nagar, Takshashila Marg, MMRDA Colony, Durga Nagar, and others in K East will be impacted. Similarly, areas west of C.D. Barfiwala Road, Upashraya Galli, Swami Vivekanand Marg, Andheri, Dawood Bagh, and more in K West will also face water disruptions.

Residents are advised to use water sparingly during this period and to make necessary arrangements to ensure they have an adequate supply of water. The BMC recommends boiling and filtering water for the next 4 to 5 days after the repairs are completed to ensure its safety for consumption.

In conclusion, the BMC is working to replace valves to improve the water supply system, and while temporary disruptions may inconvenience residents, these efforts are essential for maintaining a reliable water supply in Mumbai.
