A recent joint operation conducted by the Western Railway and city administration successfully cleared 45 unauthorized encroachments near Bandra East railway station in Mumbai. The demolition drive, which saw the participation of nearly 150 staff from various departments, aimed to remove illegal structures that had been built without proper authorization.
The Western Railway team was comprised of four senior section engineers, three staff members, and 24 laborers, supported by one inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), one sub-inspector, six assistant sub-inspectors, 19 male constables, eight female constables, and seven staff members of the Maharashtra Security Force. Additionally, the government railway police force from Bandra and the city police team from Nirmal Nagar police station also played key roles in the operation.
The Bandra police force included one senior police inspector, three police inspectors, seven sub-inspectors, one assistant police inspector, 24 male constables, and 20 female constables. On the other hand, the city police team from Nirmal Nagar police station consisted of one senior police inspector, one police inspector, two assistant police inspectors, and 10 male and three female constables. The combined efforts of these teams, along with the assistance of two JCB machines and one truck, ensured the successful removal of the encroachments.
The demolition drive serves as a reminder of the authorities’ commitment to maintaining public spaces and ensuring that urban areas are free from illegal constructions.
