Sunil Gavaskar, the cricket legend, was super pumped to be at the BCCI office where they decided to name a boardroom after him. He was like, “Wow, I’m totally honoured to have a boardroom named after me. When they asked me to cut the ribbon, I was like, ‘Yeah, sure, anything for the BCCI!'” This guy also has a box named after him at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, thanks to the Mumbai Cricket Association.

During the ceremony, Gavaskar was seen touching the office floor out of respect. He was joined by BCCI big shots like president Roger Binny, who was his teammate back in the day. Gavaskar’s connection with the BCCI goes way back to the late 1960s when he was just starting out in domestic cricket.

In the past, Gavaskar had some key people in the BCCI who had his back. One of them was ND ‘Mama’ Karmarkar, who was like a guiding light for him. In his book, Sunny Days, Gavaskar mentioned how Karmarkar took care of everything for him before he headed out on a tour to the West Indies in 1971.

The 75-year-old cricket maestro even had a stint as the interim president of the BCCI during the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League. It’s clear that Gavaskar has had a long and fruitful journey with the BCCI, and this boardroom naming ceremony was just another feather in his cap.

So, there you have it – Sunil Gavaskar, the man of the hour at the BCCI office, reminiscing about the good old days and the people who helped him along the way. The cricketing world will always remember his contributions, both on and off the field.
