The Mumbai Police are intensifying their search for the third shooter involved in the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The shooting took place outside Siddique’s son’s office in Mumbai over the weekend, resulting in serious injuries to Siddique. So far, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including two alleged shooters and a co-conspirator.
The third shooter, identified as Shivkumar Gautam, is currently on the run. He has been flaunting his “gangster” status on social media, posting photos and captions that suggest his involvement in criminal activities. The police suspect that Gautam may be hiding in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the districts of Ujjain and Khandwa.
Joint teams from the Mumbai Police have been deployed to these districts to search for Gautam. They are focusing on places of worship, as the arrested shooters have revealed that they had visited some religious sites while on the run. The police believe that Gautam may return to these places, posing as a devotee to avoid detection.
Ujjain and Khandwa are known for their temples, such as Mahakal and Omkareshwar, which attract a large number of visitors daily. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, Gautam has managed to evade capture so far. The police are also investigating a social media post claiming responsibility for Siddique’s murder, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In addition to the search for the third shooter, the police are exploring various angles in the case, including the motive behind the attack. They are considering factors such as contract killing, business rivalries, political disputes, or threats related to a slum rehabilitation project. The investigation is complex, involving multiple teams and leads that extend beyond Maharashtra.
The suspects arrested in connection with the case have provided valuable information to the police, shedding light on the planning and execution of the crime. Pravin Lonkar, one of the accused, has been remanded in police custody for further questioning. His brother, Shubham Lonkar, who is also implicated in the case, remains at large.
Meanwhile, another suspect, Yasin Akhtar, has a history of criminal activities and is believed to have connections with notorious gangsters. The police are working diligently to piece together the puzzle of Siddique’s murder and bring all perpetrators to justice. It is a challenging task that requires coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies and relentless pursuit of leads.
