Efficient Strategies to Expedite Dahisar-Mira Bhayander Link Road Construction

The proposed link road connecting Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander is facing delays due to the lack of necessary permits from CRZ, Forest Department, and Environment Department. Despite tenders and work orders being issued for the project, the NOC process from these departments has just begun and could take up to 3 more months to secure approval. This means that the construction of the link road may commence by the end of October or in November.

The 5.3 km long link road will pass through mangroves, khar pen land, and Dahisar Bay, necessitating approval from the concerned departments. The construction company is expected to complete the bridge within 42 months, excluding rainy days. Once completed, the link road is anticipated to reduce travel time from 45 minutes to just 10 minutes.

The plan includes building a 5.3 km elevated road between Dahisar and Bhayander, with 1.5 km falling under BMC (Mumbai) limits and the remaining 3.5 km under Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation limits. The estimated cost of the project is INR 3186 crore, with the road boasting a width of 45 metres and 4 lanes on each side.

Starting from Kanderpada Metro Station Link Road in Dahisar West, the elevated road will extend to Subhash Chandra Bose Maidan near Uttan Road in Bhayandar West. It is projected to accommodate a daily traffic volume of 75 thousand vehicles, aiming to reduce the load on Dahisar check post by approximately 35 percent.

The elevated road will offer a signal-free multi-level experience, featuring a 7-storey parking facility equipped with modern technology for 550 vehicles. Additionally, a bus terminal and transport hub will be established, connecting to the metro system.

Connecting Bhayander to South Mumbai
The Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander elevated corridor will provide a direct link to Nariman Point in South Mumbai. A coastal road will connect Nariman Point to Worli Sea Link, then to Bandra via Sea Link, followed by Bandra to Versova, and Versova to Dahisar Kandivali.

Efforts to Reduce Highway Congestion
The government is prioritizing enhanced connectivity between Mumbai and neighboring areas such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Mira-Bhayander, and Vasai-Virar. The Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander Elevated Corridor is poised to play a crucial role in this endeavor, catering to the approximately 10 lakh individuals commuting between Mumbai and Bhayandar daily. Presently, commuters have limited options for traveling between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander.
