Sanjay Raut had some spicy news to share on Wednesday night. He claimed that a whopping Rs 5 crore in cash was discovered in a room at the government guest house in Dhule city. According to Raut, this cash was meant to be a bribe for the Maharashtra legislature’s estimates committee during their visit to Dhule district.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP alleged that his party’s workers managed to stop this attempted bribe. An investigation has been initiated, as per a senior police official. Raut took to X to make this revelation, stating that the huge sum of money was found in room number 102 at the Dhule government rest house Gulmohar.
Former Shiv Sena MLA Anil Anna Gote and other local Sena (UBT) leaders took charge of the situation by locking the room and standing guard outside. Despite informing the district collector, superintendent of police, and Anti-Corruption Bureau, no action was taken even after several hours. Raut expressed frustration over the lack of cooperation from the administration, claiming that the bribe was intended to cover up corruption in development works and the involvement of officials.
It was pointed out that MLA Arjun Khotkar, part of the Shiv Sena faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, heads the estimates committee responsible for scrutinising fund utilisation in the state budget. The matter is currently under investigation, confirmed Dhule Superintendent of Police Shrikant Dhivare to reporters.
In a separate incident, Sanjay Raut called out the Centre for sending multi-party delegations of MPs to countries unrelated to the Indo-Pak issue. He accused the government of focusing on “showmanship rather than substance.” Raut questioned the necessity of sending delegations to nations like Liberia, Congo, and Sierra Leone, which he believed raised serious doubts.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader highlighted a recent delegation led by Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde, headed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, which departed for the UAE and planned to visit African nations. Raut criticized the move, suggesting it lacked strategic clarity based on its timing and intent.
All in all, it seems like there’s never a dull moment when it comes to political drama in Maharashtra. Stay tuned for more updates on this unfolding saga.
