Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently kicked off his Maharashtra assembly election campaign in Dhule, where he took the opportunity to call out the Congress party for promoting caste divisions. Modi accused Congress and its allies of trying to undermine the constitution created by B.R. Ambedkar by attempting to bring back Article 370.

During his speech, Modi emphasized the importance of unity among different castes and tribes, stating that division is a major conspiracy against India. He warned the crowd that if the Congress-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) were to win the election, they would likely scrap the Ladki Bahin scheme. This scheme provides monthly financial support of ₹1,500 to women and girls.

Furthermore, Modi criticized the Congress party for their historical stance on reservation policies. He claimed that past leaders like Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi were against reservation for marginalized groups. Modi highlighted the BJP and Mahayuti government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, contrasting it with what he believes is the MVA’s lack of support for such initiatives.

In an effort to enhance women’s security and employment opportunities, Modi announced plans to recruit 25,000 women into the police force. He also criticized the MVA for what he described as their intention to “loot Maharashtra” and their internal conflicts over the post of Chief Minister.

Modi urged the voters to support the Mahayuti government for continued progress in Maharashtra. He reminded the people of Dhule’s support for the BJP government in the past and called for renewed backing in the upcoming election.

It is clear that Modi’s campaign in Maharashtra is focused on highlighting the contrast between the BJP’s vision for the state’s development and what he perceives as the Congress party’s divisive tactics. As the election draws near, the political landscape in Maharashtra is heating up, with both parties vying for the support of the electorate.
