Survivor Recalls Mumbai Boat Accident: ‘Mutilated Body’ Crashes on Ferry Deck
A survivor of the tragic Mumbai boat accident that resulted in the loss of 13 lives has come forward to share his chilling experience of the crash and its aftermath. The incident took place on Wednesday evening, off the coast of Mumbai, when a passenger ferry carrying 110 individuals, including 20 children, capsized after being hit by an out-of-control Indian Navy speedboat while en route to Elephanta Island. Among the deceased were 10 civilians and three Navy personnel.
Eyewitness Account: Moment of Impact
Gautam Gupta, a 25-year-old passenger on the ill-fated ferry, recounted the horror of the collision. He had been recording a video of what he thought was the Indian Navy speedboat performing stunts in the sea when, in a split second, tragedy struck. The force of the impact sent one of the speedboat’s passengers hurtling through the air, crashing onto the deck of the ferry just beside Gupta. The sight of the motionless and mutilated body left him in disbelief and shock.
Gupta, who was traveling to Elephanta Caves with his aunt and cousin, shared that his aunt is currently missing, while he and his cousin are receiving treatment at St George’s Hospital along with other survivors.
