A fire broke out at a factory in Thane, Maharashtra, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The blaze occurred at Venkataramana Food Specialities Limited in the Hanuman Nagar area of Wagle Estate. The Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) quickly responded to the incident, with officials arriving at the scene at around 3:59 pm.
The firefighting operation involved the deployment of seven high-rise fire vehicles, two jumbo water tankers, one water tanker, and one rescue vehicle. Additionally, two fire engines from Mira Bhayander Fire Brigade and approximately 20 water tankers were used to control the blaze. Despite efforts to control the fire from all sides, the presence of combustible materials such as desi ghee, cooking cylinders, plastic, and paper boxes stored in the factory complicated the situation, leading to delays in completely extinguishing the flames.
Around 60 firefighters and officials were actively involved in combating the fire, emphasizing the scale of the operation. The firefighting efforts were ongoing to ensure the safety of the surroundings and prevent the spread of the fire to neighboring areas.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The quick response and coordinated efforts of the fire department and disaster management personnel helped prevent any casualties. The situation is being closely monitored to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished and the area is safe for all individuals involved.
It is crucial for factories and industrial establishments to have proper fire safety measures in place to prevent such incidents. Regular inspections, proper storage of materials, and employee training on fire safety protocols are essential to minimize the risk of fires breaking out in industrial settings. Authorities and companies must work together to prioritize safety and emergency preparedness to protect lives and property.
