As the 2024 Ganeshotsav is drawing to a close, the Mumbai traffic police have issued an advisory to manage the grand processions for the idol immersions during the Anant Chaturdashi celebrations. The immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idols attracts large numbers of spectators and devotees to witness the processions, leading to an increase in both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic for vehicles and processions across Mumbai, the following restrictions and diversions have been put in place:

South Bombay Diversions:
For vehicles traveling between suburbs and South Mumbai, the traffic police recommend using the Coastal Road. Here is the detailed route:
Route Alternatives:
– Eastern Freeway to Suburbs: Eastern Freeway/Atal Setu → P.D. Mello Marg → Kalpana Junction → Bhatiya Baug Junction (right turn) → CSMT Junction (right turn) → BMC Marg → Metro Junction → Shamal Das Marg (right turn) → Shamal Das Junction (left turn) → Princess Street → Coastal Road.
– North to South Mumbai via Coastal Road: Coastal Road → Princess Street → Shamal Das Junction (Right Turn) → Shamal Das Marg → Metro Junction (Left Turn) → BMC Marg → CSMT Junction (Right Turn) → Bhatiya Baug Junction (Left Turn) → Kalpana Junction → P.D. Mello Marg → Eastern Freeway/Atal Setu.

Road Closures/No Entry:
– Marine Drive, Southbound Traffic: Vehicles from Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Road will be diverted to Coastal Road if necessary.
– Mahapalika Marg: No vehicular movement from CSMT Junction to Vasudev Balawant Fadake Chowk.
– J.S.S. Road: Prohibited from Alfred Junction to Portuguese Church.
– Vitthalbhai Patel Road: Prohibited from CP Tank Circle to Nityanand Hotel Junction.

North Mumbai Traffic arrangements across Western Suburbs, including Andheri, Juhu, Malad, and nearby areas:
Vehicle restrictions on Damu Anna Date Marg in Kandivali due to Visarjans on Dahanukar Wadi Immersion Pool. Cars will not be allowed on LT Road in Borivali from Don Bosco Junction to Borivali Jetty Road.
